Why I love Arctic Cat snow tires and Big O Tires

Pete 2

On Christmas night our family left Vickey’s parent’s place in Holladay in a pretty heavy snow storm. I thought we could make the 20 minute drive back home in 30-40 minutes, depending on how heavy the snow was on the freeway.

The trip took almost 90 minutes because the freeway was a mess and there was [...]

Video of sledding adventure

Pete 2

As promised in my previous sledding post, here’s a short video of our sledding experience with the kids a couple of days after Christmas. We had a blast!

We gave Vickey a hard time about knowing how to steer a sled, and about not dragging her feet, but she was a trooper to go with us [...]

What to do if you’re a victim of identity theft

Pete 2

Back in September I blogged about a letter we received from Countrywide saying one of their employees sold our personal information, which they inferred, may lead to identity theft. They graciously arranged for credit monitoring for two years. And they let us know that their employee was fired.

Late last week, through the Experian credit monitoring [...]

Sledding on Dec. 27

Pete 2

For Christmas we got sleds and snow gear. The kids were begging us to try everything out on Christmas but it just didn’t happen until Saturday (poor weather conditions).

We all had a blast!

Grandma and Grandpa Codella were with us so they got some photos and video of the excursion.

I’ll post some photos here and see [...]

Christmas cookie baking

Pete 2

Tonight we made some traditional Italian Christmas cookies.

Each year we bake cookies — recipes passed down from my dad’s parents — sometime around mid-December, or at least before Christmas day, and sometimes more than once!

We usually give friends and neighbors small plates with samples of our family Christmas baking tradition.

We missed baking with my cousins, [...]

The cousin’s sleepover

Pete 2

Vickey’s sister, Rachel, spearheaded a cousins sleepover at the Snow’s on Sunday evening.

Eliana and Dominic were thrilled to participate. They ate, played games, decorated the kitchen window, watched a movie and didn’t get to bed until after midnight (so we’re told).

At least the kids have been more than willing to go to bed on time [...]

Puzzled

Pete 2

A Christmas and New Year’s family tradition for us is to find the most difficult, obnoxious, many-thousand-piece puzzle and see how quickly we can put it together.

This year’s puzzle, the Twelve Days of Christmas, came from the grandparents Codella.

It was tricky, but we figured it out.

We put it together this week at Vickey’s parent’s place [...]

Walkin in a winter wonderland

Pete 2

Living up on the bench in Bountiful is beautiful. We feel like we live in the mountains. But since we actually ‘live in the mountains,’ we’re blessed with plenty of snow.

I’ve decided that my new gym membership is a snow shovel and a very long, steep driveway. It’s fun. You should try it.

We did borrow [...]

Winter Wonderland

Angie

It is a very snowy winter so far this December.  Burlington has record high of snow fall for December if that gives you any idea how much snow we have (about twice as much).

Vin has been skiing just about every day.  He loves it.  Sat he went up all day starting at 7am to skin [...]

First winter white-out

Pete 2

It’s official. It’s winter in northern Utah. It started snowing about 8 this morning and it’s still going.

Here’s the view from my north-facing office window.

Now we’ll have to get serious about how we’re going to clear the snow from our long driveway. Humm.

Angie,

I have been appointed as your gifter. I would appreciate some suggestions. You may respond via email or comments.

If there are no items of interest or affordability. Please tell me which stores you may elect to have gift cards so that you may have help purchasing those items.

I look forward to your response.

TWO SCORE . . . and Headed for More

For wife and husband, Madeline and Pete, Forty years together is quite a feat! “What did four decades accomplish,” you might say, “That brings us to such a milestone day?”

Sweethearts we became in 1968, So in love were we—life was great. Our hopes and dreams to start anew. Ahead, there was nothing we couldn’t do.

We married not for time, but for [...]

Ending the month of May

I thought I would try and blog a few thoughts about May on the family site. I just posted to my other blog so sorry for any repeats. I wanted to try and see if I remember how to post to the site. The weather outside is more than perfect. I love a nice cool 70 [...]

If At First You Don’t Succeed, Tie, Tie Again!

Two weekends ago I decided to take Ellie and Dominic shopping for shoes.

Will someone please remind me to have my head checked before I do that again?

After close to 3 hours of walking the mall trying to find the best deal on shoes, wrestling with two kidlets, Dominic having a melt down each time I [...]

Angie’s Surgery Update

So I will make my debut blog post about Angie’s knee surgery.

Angie went into surgery about 10:00 this morning and was awake and talking by 11:15-ish. As a refresher, Angie has a defect on the surface of her knee joint a pothole so to speak from a soccer injury about 15 years ago. This [...]
